How to maintain and clean your whiteboards

One of the best things about KleenSlate’s whiteboards is that they are durable and very easy to care for. Our felt-tipped attachable erasers work great for erasing. However, by the end of the day, the board might be a bit cloudy with smudges, and by the end of the year a well-used board may even look a bit dingy. The good news is that the board can be easily cleaned or restored.

To clean your whiteboards simply use a microfiber cloth! These non-abrasive cleaning cloths will help to keep your boards clean and prolong the life of the surface. We include one with each classroom set of whiteboards, but you can also purchase one for each board. Each Microfiber Cloth comes with a metal ring to attach it to your KleenSlate Whiteboards.

For harder to clean surfaces you might add a small amount of soap to water to create a simple solution to the microfiber cloth to wipe clean. No chemical cleaners needed.

Avoid commercial cleaning solutions & sprays on whiteboards because the chemicals in these products will slowly deteriorate the surface of any whiteboard. Using soap and water or a non-chemical cleaner prolongs the life of dry erase surfaces, saves money, and is environmentally friendly.

What about hard-to-clean stains … even permanent marker?

When dry-erase ink is left too long on the whiteboard, it becomes more difficult to erase. One solution is to use a KleenSlate Dry Erase Marker to write over the top of the old marks. Let the ink dry fully and then erase. The ink in our markers will lift off the stubborn marker stains, and the washable felt erasers or microfiber cloth will do the rest! We call this the write-over method. Occasionally, someone mistakenly uses a permanent marker on a whiteboard. The write-over method will also work to remove permanent marker on a whiteboard if you apply the remedy quickly.

What if the surface is damaged or stained beyond cleaning?

If the surface is ruined or stained to the extent that cleaning methods will not help, Don’t Worry! You can purchase replacement parts like peel-n-stick dry erase surfaces, peel-n-stick dry erase sleeves, replacement markers and more to keep your whiteboards looking new! No need to waste money buying brand new boards, simply replace the old surface with our peel-n-stick replacement surfaces and extend the life of your boards for years!
